Each of the eight floors of the AWO student dormitory forms a living group with usually 15 people and has a communal kitchen, a comfortable lounge and a sanitary area. In addition, several washing machines and dryers can be used for cash deposits. A flat-rate internet connection in all single rooms is already included in the rental price.

Our single rooms are around 12 square meters (some with a balcony) or around 15 square meters and have a sink and a built-in wardrobe. In addition, the in-house furniture inventory can be used free of charge – while stocks last.
Important: The residents are responsible for the broadcasting fee themselves.

Over 50 percent of our residents are foreign students from over 30 nations. The international flair of the dormitory is also reflected in the numerous joint meetings between students in the building.

Our student residence is located in a green area on the Dreisam River in Oberwiehre, an attractive district of Freiburg. Further advantages: The city center, the university and the teacher training college can be reached by bike in less than 15 minutes. There is also a public swimming pool and a large shopping center nearby. The house is also well connected to public transport.

The roof terrace with a beautiful view of Freiburg and the approx. 140 square meter lounge offer a good setting for regular events. In addition, there is a spacious common room with a pool table on the ground floor. If you like, you can also spend your free time playing table football and table tennis.

Residents can volunteer in the house - e.g. B. as the person responsible for the large lounge with roof terrace or as floor spokesperson. For each “commitment semester” there is a semester extension of the period of residence. This makes it possible to live in the AWO student residence for up to ten semesters (instead of six semesters).

You are welcome to apply for a room without obligation - even if you do not yet have admission from the university or a certificate of enrollment. The rental period is for at least one semester (i.e. six months); rental starts on April 1st or October 1st (application deadline January 31st or July 31st). The period of residence is a maximum of six semesters, but can be extended by up to four semesters if you are socially involved in the house.

Regular students from the universities listed in § 3 AWO rental agreement (University of Freiburg, University of Education, University of Music Freiburg, Evangelical and Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg, etc. Please inquire) are entitled to live there.

Deposit and monthly rent (including additional costs):

• Rental deposit: €465 (one-off*)
• Standard room (approx. 12 sqm): €300
• Standard room with balcony (approx. 12 sqm): €310
• Large room (approx. 15 sqm): €320

* Including 15 euros bank fee for the deposit account, which must be paid by the tenants.
